Marlon Humphrey may have been in Tuscaloosa taking classes to complete his degree.

4TheHype – NFL rookie cornerback Marlon Humphrey was arrested and charged with theft of property in the 4th degree on Thursday, January 13, 2018. The Baltimore Raven, who grew up in Hoover and attended the University of Alabama, allegedly stole a phone charger from a Uber driver.

At around two in the morning, the Uber Driver picked up Humphrey, the son of NFL running back Bobby Humphrey, along with two females near the strip of the University of Alabama and proceeded to drive them to their destination, the Hotel Capstone, when Humphrey asked for a phone charger.

The driver handed Humphrey his charger but the former first round draft pick allegedly refused to give it back. At this point, the driver exited the vehicle in an attempt to retrieve the cell phone charger but was elbowed by Humphrey who also “balled up his fists” and damaged some of the Uber driver’s property.

Once police arrived, Marlon claimed the charger was his but it didn’t fit his phone. The police returned the charger to the Uber Driver and Marlon cooperated fully with them. Most sources cite Marlon as having been charged with a 3rd degree robbery instead of a 4h degree robbery.

He was booked into a Tuscaloosa County Jail and released on a $2,500 bond. Marlon Humphrey was the 16th pick of the 2017 NFL draft and just recently finished the first of a four-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens worth $11.8 million.

Dallas Cowboys Promote Interim Coach Jason Garrett To Head Coach

Dallas SB Nation – The worst kept coaching carousel secret was made official today. Jerry Jones officially named Jason Garrett head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, removing the interim label from his title. Continue Reading…

Jason Garrett is the new Dallas Cowboys head coach.

The Dallas Cowboys have named Jason Garrett the Head Coach after he went 5-3 as an interim coach for the football team.

Jason Garrett was originally hired as an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys in 2007.

He was made the interim head coach after Wade Phillips was fired in the middle of the season for having a 1-7 record.

I have to say I knew this was coming. Wade Phillip did not set the bar very high and therefore it was easy for Garrett to impress Jerry Jones.

But I don’t see him as the long-term solution. We need a strong minded coach who demands respect.

Jason Garrett is a good student of the game who will always be prepared but he may be too young and inexperienced to garner the respect needed to win a Superbowl.

San Fransisco 49ers Fire Head Coach Mike Singletary

Sports Illustrated – Mike Singletary was fired by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after two disappointing seasons, including a 5-10 showing this year for a franchise expected to win the NFC West.

The team made the announcement late Sunday upon returning to the Bay Area, several hours after San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention with a 25-27 loss at St. Louis. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was promoted to interim coach and will run the team in next Sunday’s season finale at home against Arizona:  Continue Reading…

San Fransisco 49ers team president and CEO Jed York  fired head coach Mike Singletary today amid speculation that he may allow him to coach the 49er’s last game of the season.

Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula will serve as the interim coach for the San Fransisco 49ers.

Mike Singletary was 18-22 overall in a little over 2 seasons. He went 8-8 last year and finished 5-10 this year. He said “You know what, I’ll put it this way: a personal failure. I’m the head coach of this team and obviously wanted us to do better, felt that we could do better.”

Owner John York says he plans to hire a GM before he hires a new head coach.

Mike Singletary never looked right as the head coach of the 49ers. He always came off as a strict and unhappy coach.

Mike Singletary has finally been fired

This season was just too much. The St. Louis Rams are leading the NFC West division with a measly 7-8 record. With the talent the 49ers have, winning the division should have been like a walk in the park.

Professional athletes want to be able to relate to their coaches as man-to-man, not man-to-child.

Singletary will surely be better off taking a defensive coordinator coaching job somewhere else, or even in San Fransisco.

But one thing is for sure, Mike Singletary as head coach of the 49ers was never going to work out.

You could see that his players weren’t really responding.

Charlotte Bobcats Head Coach Larry Brown Fired By Team Owner Michael Jordan

December 22, 2010 3 comments

SportsIllustrated After a miserable start to the season in which he took shots at his players and himself, Larry Brown is out as coach of the Charlotte Bobcats in another messy exit in his well-traveled career.

Owner Michael Jordan announced the move in a release by the team on Wednesday, a day after the Bobcats were outscored 31-12 in the fourth quarter in their fourth straight loss. Continue Reading…

Charlotte Bobcats head coach Larry Brown has been fired or ‘asked to step down’, yet again. Brown has been fired from the Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and now the Charlotte Bobcats.

Michael Jordan 'asked' Larry Brown to step down as head coach.

Team owner Michael Jordan said “This was a difficult decision for both of us, but one that needed to be made.”

The Bobcats 9-19 record and one-sided losses were just too much for the NBA legend.

Larry Brown had lead the team to its first playoff appearance last season but the organization decided to trade away centerpieces Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler.

That was obviously a bad decision.

The coach was not proud of his team’s performance this season saying “I just feel bad if anybody who really enjoys the game would watch our team play. They’d look at me and say, ‘That coach is not doing his job.’ That’s the thing I feel most bad about.”

Like Bill Parcells once said “They want you to cook the dinner; at least they ought to let you shop for some of the groceries.”

Larry Brown is the only coach ever to win a NCAA championship (Kansas 1988) and a NBA championship (Detroit Piston 2004).

He is also the only coach to lead as many as eight NBA teams to the playoffs and is a NBA Hall of Famer.

Kansas City – Standout wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos isn’t merely suspended from the Iowa football team after being charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine, running a drug house and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.

Derrell Johnson showing love to Iowa fans.

Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz said “He’ll not play again here…he’s dismissed” in reference to talented wide-receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos during a teleconference call.

Derrell was suspended on Tuesday after he was arrested on possession of controlled substances, keeping a drug house, unlawful possession of a prescription drug and the complaint says “selling large amounts of marijuana”.

Derrell Johnson was the all time leader in catches and reception yardage for the University of Iowa. He was speculated to be in the first round of next years draft.

This drug arrest has jeopardized his chances of going in the first 2 rounds or even being in next year’s draft.

This is a real tough lesson. Hopefully he recovers from this and has a respectable career. He will miss a big bowl game in “The Insight Bowl” on Dec. 28, 2010 in Tempe, Arizona. He will be punished by his family, friends, and most importantly, the justice system.

The days of Derrell Johnson on the cover of Sports Illustrated are over for now.
