Dallas Cowboys Promote Interim Coach Jason Garrett To Head Coach

Dallas SB Nation – The worst kept coaching carousel secret was made official today. Jerry Jones officially named Jason Garrett head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, removing the interim label from his title. Continue Reading…

Jason Garrett is the new Dallas Cowboys head coach.

The Dallas Cowboys have named Jason Garrett the Head Coach after he went 5-3 as an interim coach for the football team.

Jason Garrett was originally hired as an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys in 2007.

He was made the interim head coach after Wade Phillips was fired in the middle of the season for having a 1-7 record.

I have to say I knew this was coming. Wade Phillip did not set the bar very high and therefore it was easy for Garrett to impress Jerry Jones.

But I don’t see him as the long-term solution. We need a strong minded coach who demands respect.

Jason Garrett is a good student of the game who will always be prepared but he may be too young and inexperienced to garner the respect needed to win a Superbowl.

San Fransisco 49ers Fire Head Coach Mike Singletary

Sports Illustrated – Mike Singletary was fired by the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night after two disappointing seasons, including a 5-10 showing this year for a franchise expected to win the NFC West.

The team made the announcement late Sunday upon returning to the Bay Area, several hours after San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention with a 25-27 loss at St. Louis. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was promoted to interim coach and will run the team in next Sunday’s season finale at home against Arizona:  Continue Reading…

San Fransisco 49ers team president and CEO Jed York  fired head coach Mike Singletary today amid speculation that he may allow him to coach the 49er’s last game of the season.

Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula will serve as the interim coach for the San Fransisco 49ers.

Mike Singletary was 18-22 overall in a little over 2 seasons. He went 8-8 last year and finished 5-10 this year. He said “You know what, I’ll put it this way: a personal failure. I’m the head coach of this team and obviously wanted us to do better, felt that we could do better.”

Owner John York says he plans to hire a GM before he hires a new head coach.

Mike Singletary never looked right as the head coach of the 49ers. He always came off as a strict and unhappy coach.

Mike Singletary has finally been fired

This season was just too much. The St. Louis Rams are leading the NFC West division with a measly 7-8 record. With the talent the 49ers have, winning the division should have been like a walk in the park.

Professional athletes want to be able to relate to their coaches as man-to-man, not man-to-child.

Singletary will surely be better off taking a defensive coordinator coaching job somewhere else, or even in San Fransisco.

But one thing is for sure, Mike Singletary as head coach of the 49ers was never going to work out.

You could see that his players weren’t really responding.

Michael Vick Nissan Commercial

This is a very good start for the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback. Woodbury Nissan made a nice gesture by giving Vick a commercial.

It was also a good business move by the dealership. They didn’t have to pay Vick for his services, instead they gave him a Nissan Armada.

Brett Favre’s 297 Consecutive Starts Streak Ends

December 13, 2010 Leave a comment

ESPN – No more, Brett.

After 297 consecutive starts over 19 seasons, one of the greatest individual streaks in all of sports, Brett Favre ran into an injury he couldn’t beat and sat down.

Will Brett Favre finally this year?

The 41-year-old Vikings quarterback who fought through broken bones, aches, pains and personal grief to play week after week, couldn’t make it for the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night. Favre was sidelined by a throwing shoulder too damaged for even him to overcome. Continue Reading…

Brett Favre did not start today for the Minnesota Vikings today, ending his streak of 297 consecutive games started.

The Hall of Fame quarterback couldn’t overcome his latest injury to the shoulder of his throwing arm.

Tavaris Jackson started in place of the legend and scored a measly 3 points in a loss to the New York Giants

This is the first time Brett Favre hasn’t started since September of 1992 in the fourth game of the season.

This is probably the last we have seen of Brett Favre and I’m happy about it.

I’m happy that I don’t have to see the old man limp on the field anymore and I’m happy that he wont have a chance to throw another devastating interception in the playoffs.

But I think this is best for his family who have been through enough for the past 3 years.
