San Fransisco Giants Disrespect 2010 World Series MVP Edgar Renteria With A Low-Ball Contract Offer

FanNation – Edgar Renteria doesn’t sound like a guy who wants to return to San Francisco, not after an offer from the Giants that is

Edgar Renteria would rather stay home than play for $1 million dollars.

roughly a third of the average MLB player’s salary. [Renteria] understands the best part of his major league career is over and baseball is a business, but he still hoped for better treatment from the San Francisco Giants after helping the team to the World Series in October. San Francisco offered a one year, $1 million contract to the 2010 World Series MVP. “That offer from the Giants was a lack of respect. A total disrespect,” Renteria told ESPNdeportes.com Thursday from Colombia. “To play for a million dollars, I’d rather stay with my private business and share more time with my family,” he said.

The San Fransisco Giants have offered Edgar Renteria, the 2010 World Series MVP, a $1 million dollar contract to stay with the team for 1 more year.

The Colombian free agent had a $9.5 million dollar option to play next season but the Giants declined to pick it up.

To go from $9.5 million to $1 million is crazy, the Giants should have just told him to find another team to play for.

Because thats basically what that offer is saying. I know were in a recession but the Giants just won the 2010 World Series.

Where is the respect these days??
