Chicago Cubs Owner Joe Ricketts Opposes Government Spending But Wants The State To Lend Him $300 Million Dollars

ChicagoTribune –  The owner of the Chicago Cubs will ask the state to borrow up to $300 million in a bond offering to make extensive renovations at Wrigley Field that would ensure the team can play at the historic ballpark for another 50 years. Continue Reading…

Joe Ricketts, through his son Tom, has asked the state of Indiana to give him a $300 million dollar bond to help renovate Wrigley Field. The former CEO and founder of  TD Ameritrade, a giant online brokerage, became the owner of the Chicago Cubs in 2009.

Joe is notoriously known for his opposition to government spending.

Joe is the sole funder of the non-profit Ending Spending Fund and the affiliated Taxpayers Against Earmarks. His sworn mission is “educating and engaging American taxpayers about wasteful government spending and the misguided practice of earmarks.”

In defense of his new tax, the crook said “No one is losing anything. It’s not a new tax, and it’s not increasing taxes. It will allow us to keep some of the growth in a tax.”

Joe should be treated like a criminal here and Indiana should force him to sell the Chicago Cubs

I can’t understand this statement and I don’t think I am supposed to, but it seems like he is trying to play both sides of the fence here.

The billionaire claims to be against government spending money that is paid by future generations, but that is what he is doing here.

An expenditure of $300 million for a private organization will put the state of Indiana in a bad financial state where the only option will be to raise taxes.

If taxes are going to be raised,  the government should spend money on the public instead of a private organization. Taxes are levied on everyone, not just the rich.

Therefore, the spending should be spent on everyone if everyone is going to pay for it.

Joe spent $600,000 on Republican Sharron Angle’s campaign against Democrat and Senate majority leader Harry Reid. The two ran a tight race against each other for a Nevada senate seat.

Instead of buying politicians, Joe should put that money towards building a good Chicago Cubs team. They haven’t won a World Series since 1907!!
